@Zak - Thanks for stopping by. You have a point; Wikipedia suggests that the outrage over "X-mas" is a recent fabrication of fundamentalists, just like YEC and other similar items. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xmas

Very interesting read. Though, I seriously doubt that most people who say "Xmas" are doing it specifically to exclude Christ.

As a non-Christian, I have absolutely no problem saying "Merry Christmas" or anything of the sort. But I often will say "Xmas" (usually in type) simply because it is just quicker and easier. Not because I am trying get rid of "Christ."

Likewise, on many message boards discussing religion, you see Christians referred to as "Xtians." I really doubt that the posters are trying to take the Christ out of Christian.

The first letter of Greek is alpha, and the first letter of God is Yod. The Greek shorthand for Christ was always IΣ. It's true that X was used as shorthand for Theos as well as for Death, but it seems like a rather tortured defense of the word X-mas. It's indisputable that the word in general practice is intended to exclude Christ.

X is theological short-hand for Christ. in Greek, the first letter is X. just like the first letter for God is a theta. theological short-hand. so "Merry X-Mas" still has Christ. gotta know church history to understand that there is no argument to be made.
